  8.  Startup Prefs - The Original Startup-Sequence Preferences Utility

  10. At least I haven't seen anything like it before,
  11. sure there are startup managers etc,
  12. but they usually are started at the beginning of the startup
  13. and use their own type of startup systems instead of the normal one.
  14.  
  15. Startup Prefs however, change the actual Startup-Sequence values,
  16. making it possible to "EDIT" your Startup-Sequence
  17. without the need to edit it by hand and cross your fingers
  18. hoping nothing goes wrong.
  19.  
  20. It won't let you change everything (and may never do :-)
  21. Startup Prefs is ment to let you change some things
  22. you may need to change, once in a while or in special situations!
  23.  
  24. FEATURES!
  25. o You can set the FailAt level
  26.   (how sensitive the system is towards startup errors etc.)
  27.  
  28. o You can choose to start Workbench with/without Delay,
  29.   or decide to not start Workbench at all.
  30.  
  31. o You can choose to keep the bootshell or not
  32.  
  33. o You can choose if you want to copy ENV to Ram:
  34.   (The ENV directory and assign is still made)
  35.   (but all those small files want be put in your Ram:)
  36.  
  37. o You can choose if you want ARexx started
  38.  
  39. o You can choose if you want to mount your DOS Drivers.
  40.  
  41. o You can choose if you want to mount your Monitor Drivers.
  42.  
  43. o You can choose if you want to start the DataTypes system.
  44.  
  45. o You can choose if you want to use the User-Startup
  46.  
  47. o You can choose if you want to have a quiet startup
  48.   (nice if you don't want messages disturbing your bootscreen :-)
  49.  
  50. o You can choose if you want to start a new shell after Workbench
  51.   have started.
  52.  
  53. o And you can restore your original (OLD) Startup-Sequence,
  54.   or the Startup-Sequence you last saved.
  55.  
  56. o You can save the changes and reboot later,
  57.   or let Startup Prefs reboot for you :-)
  58.  
  59. o There are some safety requesters for things like
  60.   quit and reboot plus reminders for
  61.   that you need to reboot to set the changes into effect,
  62.   and that you should wait until all disk activity has finished
  63.   before pressing the Reboot button :-)
  64.  
  65. o Startup Prefs will convert your old Startup-Sequence
  66.   into one more usable by Startup Prefs,
  67.   but before doing so it will save your old Startup
  68.   as S:Startup-Sequence.ORIGINAL :-)
